Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture)

A glance, a signal; giving and receiving. The teachings of José Esteban Muñoz offer queerness as something that is always on the horizon, a sacred longing that propels us forward. Using coded imagery, I cast this exchange. Cruising Utopia reflects on the past whilst simultaneously exposing its potentiality, mapping a path of desire. As hope is often disappointed, we must choose to live in anticipation and sip from the temporal ecstasy of the quotidian and ornamental. If all we see is the future opening, it burns away like dreams. Yet if we nurture desire in stasis, there is something concrete to hold on to as we proceed.
