My process is driven by my intuitive aesthetic, developed over decades of close observation of – and responses to – culture and media. Poring over decomposing media formats, I search for portals into a flickering consciousness.
My most recent work – drawing on the collapse of the USSR in 1989/1990 – uses immersive, multi-screen video projections and original surround-sound music, which acts as a sonic glue. The projections are refracted unpredictably, illuminating strange, dark places. My large-scale photographs compliment the video investigations. They mix warped scanning, digital printing and painting processes with an instinctive approach to design, collage and colour.
