Nnamdi Ekeledo-Smith

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Photography)

My name is Nnamdi Ekeledo-Smith, I am a mixed medium artist that uses photography, text, painting and sound to explore and question the complexity of race and culture. For the past 16 months, I have been heavily exploring and questioning what it means to be labelled as Black. I have photographed and documented family, friends and non biological family, asking them to define Black in the first three words that come to mind. I then asked them to pose embodying the words. This series questions the commonality and differences of these words and images.
