VCA ART 2022

Emma Fitzgibbon

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Photography)

This work combines chalk pastel, tracing paper, darkroom prints, and 8mm film to portray diffused, often-obscured and layered portrait imagery. This composite supports a dive into a reminiscent space and enacts an exploration of a push-and-pull between expansion and confinement. In these works the unconscious mind drives the making process, and colour is used to diffuse certain psychological aspects. This project is a continuation of a practice that attempts to listen to, investigate and amplify what I believe cannot be truly said, only felt.
