Michele Fountain

Graduate Certificate of Visual Art

Reaching from a place of alienation; looking for connection; searching for ways to communicate that which can only be experienced.

Monstrous World is an ongoing exploration, an installation that invites the audience to physically step into my experience of anxiety. This world is dangerous and full of monsters. The monsters are domestic, and the monsters are me. Even so, monsters can be beautiful, whimsical and humorous. Using photography, textile art, sculpture and light to create an environment to be explored, my work challenges the isolation and silence of mental health through a reinterpretation of the monstrous.
