Alice Tsiavos

Honours

Interested in the entanglement of history and place, my work reflects on the way history inhabits physical spaces. Exploring how buildings, surfaces, and objects can embody past moments, I pursue a way of working that foregrounds place. Currently, I am investigating the abandoned site of the Defence Explosives Factory Maribyrnong, a post-industrial ruin made hazardous by extensive chemical contamination. My work draws upon my training as a printmaker to develop a series of images that imagine the interior of a site I cannot access or encounter.
