Phoebe Haig

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting)

My paintings reimagine found images into highly charged, luminous alla prima paintings. Drawn from museum archives, the pictures are altered, blurred, cropped, and translated into intimate paintings. The editing results in contorted forms that move in and out of focus. Through a focus on light and blur, these works recreate the sensation of looking into a bright light. As a collective, the works walk the line between ambiguous and representational.
